A lifelong Texan and proud graduate of Texas A&M University, Matthew Womble is running for a seat on the Birdville ISD School Board in the May 1, 2021 election.
With a father who worked in law enforcement and a mother who worked in education, Matthew was raised to respect and pursue education and discipline. Now, with three children in BISD and his wife serving there as an elementary school teacher, Womble has first-hand knowledge into the challenges facing both public school teachers and their students.
As a resident of North Richland Hills for nearly a decade, Womble is proud to be part of this dynamic and growing community, whose school district has been recognized as one of the most efficient and responsible in the state of Texas. He is running for the school board to be a faithful steward of the district’s budget, while ensuring the integrity of student education and extracurricular activities and to create a legacy of educational achievement for generations to come.
Drawing from his career in law enforcement, Womble seeks to bring his professional experience in conflict resolution and sound judgement to his seat on the board, while making school safety and security a top priority for the board in the coming years.
Womble is a long-time volunteer with young people in the community, serving with the Richland Youth Association (RYA) on both its Board of Directors and as its Director of Basketball. He has demonstrated a commitment to youth development and achievement through sports as a treasurer for the Birdville Hawks First Down Club, member of the Football Booster Club, and volunteer coach for baseball, football and basketball youth teams.
As a family man, law enforcement officer, and willing coach and volunteer, Matthew Womble is invested in the future of Birdville ISD and the success of its children, and will serve the district honorably as its newest school board member.
Matthew and his wife Angie have been married for 18 years and have three children. They attend North Richland Hills Baptist Church, where he currently serves as a deacon.
